Compass had an interesting genesis. I developed the Charity as an outflow of a personal vision to share an extraordinary philosophy and practice in which I have been immersed for some 35 years… Budo – traditional martial arts. It seems strange now to look back over the past 20 years in particular since I began full time teaching of the arts of Aikido and more recently, Shinto Muso Ryu. My aim is not self promotion as I say this, however I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to some of the genuine masters of these arts and have, through them, managed to come to some small level of expertise myself.

The thing I have discovered over the years is that the lessons I have learned in that very practical world are eminently applicable to many other worlds. Those worlds have included:
